Process

01

client interview

I met with the client to align on their goals, story, and audience. We defined key themes and moments to highlight, ensuring the book speaks directly to its intended viewers.

02

Curating and Sequencing Photos

I curated the strongest images to support the story, arranging them for a natural flow that balanced visual impact with narrative. Breaks and full-page spreads added rhythm and emphasized key moments.

Next steps

01

Refining Through Feedback

I shared drafts with the client for feedback and tested the design with a small audience to gauge reactions. This helped refine the book to meet expectations, resonate with viewers, and avoid missteps.

02

Final Production and Distribution

I collaborated with a trusted printer, overseeing quality checks on color, alignment, and binding to ensure a polished, professional final product.

Thanks to its success, the project is heading on an international tour, with the book available in Berlin, London, and New York.

01

Navigating Challenges

Facing a tight deadline and limited pages, I made quick, strategic choices, prioritising strong images and a streamlined layout. Clear client communication kept us aligned and efficient. These challenges fueled creativity, resulting in a high-quality product delivered on time and within budget.

“Working with Lucy was a true partnership. She took the time to understand my vision, listened carefully, and seamlessly integrated my ideas without disrupting the project’s flow. I felt confident throughout and am thrilled with the result. I’d gladly work with her again.” — Jack Hare, Photographer
